Aquariums in the Home
If you remember the joy of seeing replica ocean ecosystems thriving behind only a few inches of glass as a kid at the local aquarium, you likely understand the appeal of seeing underwater firsthand. Whether you’re a boater with the ability to rescue ocean fish of your own, or someone who’s inherited a large number of fish from your friend’s fish tank, you can provide these fish a large, colorful environment with the use of an in-home aquarium. Unlike most fish tanks, home aquariums are spacious, well-designed, and can house a greater diversity of fish species for display. Below, we’ll go over some important considerations for choosing between a fish tank and an in-home aquarium.

Space
Fish, just like any living creatures, depend on open space to act upon their natural instincts and hide from potential predators. If you keep a large number of fish in your home, a regular fish tank may be squelching their opportunity to grow properly and act instinctively. Smaller tanks with certain fish species sharing the same space can also end up with untimely fish deaths. Larger, home aquarium sized underwater spaces can provide plenty of hiding spaces, room to breathe, and keep large numbers of fish in a much more peaceful environment overall.

Design
Fish tanks are small and versatile, so owners of tanks can select ones in an unusual array of different shapes, heights, etc. Fish aquariums are quite a bit larger than standard tanks, and certainly can’t be shaped into something different without racking up astronomical expenses. Creativity, however, comes more in the shape of interior decorating with fish aquariums. With so much more space inside the glass, you can create entire artificial reefs, pretend shipwrecks, and other colorful, luminescent, or extraordinary features that go well with the overall appearance you want to create. Plus, these creative designs do help to offer additional hiding spaces for fish and other creatures you may keep inside the tank.

Home Décor
A fish tank, in some ways, is much like a pet’s bed. It’s a necessity, but it’s quite difficult to make it really feel as though it’s part of the whole decorating scheme you’ve laid out for a room. Home aquariums are different. Because they’re so large and imposing, ignoring them could mean leaving unsightly blight in the middle of your living room. So many home aquarium owners design incredible exterior displays that do wonders for matching these super-sized tanks to just about any interior design scheme. That way, you can have your fish and your living room, too..
