The first race of the 2010 season has now finished with the honours going to Topaz, under the command of Georgina Corbett. We will not think anything funny happened in the fact that the winner just happens to be the daughter of the director of handicapping!! No we are a honest bunch and she won the race fair and square, her Dad only acted as ballast, not that we are saying he is over weight!!!. The race took place in a wind of top end of F3-bottom of F4, much more than was anticipated earlier on in the week when the rorcast was for a F1 to F2. In a lap of a course in Ballyteigue bay, west of the harbour, the winning boat crossed the line at 14.25 hours, taking 53 minutes. he was followed home two minutes later by the Muscadet, under the helm of race sposor, Ivan Sutton, with Jumo finishing third, pushed very closely by Samedi, finishing 30 seconds later. The race was done on a pursuit basis. For the benefit of the uninitiated, this is where the boats start at different times, based on a handicap allowance, and hopefully finish at the same time.
